-----------Has he ever tried melatonin? I think TK has said that some people

need to take regular melatonin and extended release to help with this problem.

And I recall some people saying that taking magnesium and/or taurine at bedtime

helped them sleep better. And there are a number of herbs in AI listed as being

sopoforic.-----Jackie

We are working on clearing his gut of some infections (yeast, H. pylori), and

hoping this takes

some strain off his adrenals. Any suggestions for improving sleep?

Next question. What about taking glutamine for gut healing? Any

contraindications I should

be aware of? Suggested dose for an adult? 100# kid?

----------On page 154 of AI, Andy says that glutamine may help heal leaky gut,

but that it should not be taken by people who have elevated blood ammonia.

Dosage is given as 1-4 grams, I assume for an adult. 100# kid would be similar

to a small adult, I would think, so may 500mg to 1 gram? I suppose you could

check on A-M to see what they suggest. Don't they have a supplement file over

there?------Jackie

Thanks,

Melatonin has really helped me. I had (have) the same problem as your

husband...can fall asleep in 30 seconds but then wake up from 1-2:30.

My mind then would start racing and be filled with thoughts

I had this sleep problem for over 4 years, I think it was related

to all the other gut problems I was having (yeast, parasites,

constipation)...very LOW Dopamine

I started with 10-12 mgs of melatonin (2 5mg tablets and a 2 mg)

about an hour before bed. I know AI suggests trying the time release

versions as well, but they did not seem to work as well for me

I am at 10 mgs now. I have tried 15 mgs but it seems to make me a bit

hyper at night,

However in the last few days I have also started hydrocortisone (for

adrenals) and have switched to dpms. I think my body likes dpms better

I have noticed my sleep seems to be better these last few days and I

am waking up less. I have also started to have more dreams

I have just been to see MWP (Most Wonderful

Practitioner). She recommended vitamin c (1 gram, which is about a

1/4 teaspoon) with meals to help with stomach acid and digestion).

Also she suggetsted 4-5 tablets of betaine HCL (400-500 mgs each;,

again for stomach acid)...along with biotin. I also take enzymes and

chromium picolinate (I have high blood sugar)

She suggested I also incrase my magnesium by way of 1/4-1/8th

teaspoon with water (3 times a day) and glucosamine sulfate for

increased sulfates (Not sure why she suggested this)

Good luck
