DH and I have been very bad at getting our wills updated. We first

did it when we bought our flat together and then redid them when we

got married (well about 3 years later) as apparently the wedding had

invalidated the wills.

We have been meaning to re-do them since the arrival of DS since no

provision is made for him in either will. They're not exactly mirror

wills but at the moment they go along the lines of if I die and DH

doesn't, he gets it all and if we both die our respective parents get

it all.

I did go to the trouble of asking 3 or 4 sets of people about being

guardians if necessary a couple of years back and other than a regular

bad conscience haven't got any further.

How much do these things cost these days? A friend horrified me by

saying her and her husband had just paid £600 for wills, but then he

must be rolling in it since she doesn't work, they have a huge house

and both kids are at private school. Hopefully charge a bit less for

my measly savings.

TIA

My firm (in Tunbridge Wells) charges £75 plus VAT for the average

bog-standard will. £600 sounds very expensive - must have some

complicated trusts or something!!
