Guest guest
Does anyone use avocado oil in cooking? I saw it on the counter at the veg market today and picked up a bottle - it was being touted as an alternative to olive oil (which I hate the smell of). There was a website mentioned on the bottle http://www.olivado.co.nz but I can't get access to it. So far today I have used it to make pancakes (high smoke point at 255C) successfully and put it on a salad sandwich I had. I couldn't taste it. Apparently it has 950mg of beta sitosterol per 100 grammes as opposed to olive oil's 250mg. Beta sitosterol apparently 'not only helps prevent absorption of 'bad' LDL cholestrol into the bloodstream it assists in redressing the balance by promoting 'good' HDL cholestrol' and is rich in Vit E. If I decide I like this will I be able to get it in the UK? -- Sue Oz
