Guest guest
I was getting overwhelmed with information yesterday. It's tempting to include every new idea into my own routine, anything to get better! But when taking so many supplements, I get nervous about balance. So this morning, while my head was at its clearest, I made a list of Goals for Recovery, with rankings from most to least important. MY GOALS FOR WELLNESS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Get rid of the metal in my body. 2. Make sure I don't hurt myself with improper treatment or activity. 3. Correct imbalances caused by chelating agents. 4. Support body's detox pathways, liver function, gut climate, etc. 5. Support general overall health. 6. Control unpleasant symptoms. * Use whole foods and diet rather than supplements whenever possible. Okay, maybe I've left things out, maybe they could be stated differently. The last one, the starred one, pertains to everything on the list. I'd love suggestions. I wrote it because, when I ask questions about treatment, or when I read others' posts, I want to keep the relative order of importance in mind. And, as a newcomer looking at a long ride, I'd love to know, for example, if the recommended substance is something that will directly aid my ability to get rid of metal OR if it's something that will simply make me feel better while I'm doing it. For example, if I had no other means to attain the goal, would taking the small-frequent doses of DMSA alone, with no other supplements, get rid of the mercury? If so then what's the next most important thing I could do? Well, that would probably be " drink lots of water " . And there you go, that's the start of the list I'm trying to etch into my mind, a list that will, I hope!, keep things in perspective. Another example: when I consider a vitamin C IV drip I'll wonder if this will directly help the physical process of detox or is it simply a way to more easily endure the symptoms of treatment? Maybe a Magnesium Push would be better? That sort of thing. I'll also welcome suggestions that recommend certain foods over certain supplements. This will help with overall body balance. Most of us are probably quite accustomed to enduring discomfort in order to get well. An unhealthy mercury-toxic body has a lot of pathogens, pests!, living in it. When you kill the bad guys, the good guys also get some collateral damage. With that in mind, when I look at treating symptoms, which are low on my list, I'll wonder if the symptoms are something to really listen to and act on (back off the chelators!) or simply something to be endured in the cause of being mercury-free. I mean, if the treatment is just to feel better along the way, I probably won't even bother. If you're like me and can't work, don't have much of a life, discomfort is just another piece to be endured if it means feeling better later. With dwindling dollars, I hope this priority list will help me make choices. So these are just some thoughts on how I'll try to keep perspective when faced with the myriad of wonderful suggestions here.. Just thought I'd share it with you :-) Feel free to comment. ~robin
