Guest guest
Oww I can't believe some of them! - I've heard of two dippy things that two different HV's have had to say today: 1st Dippy HV: I was speaking to a friend the other day who has a three month old bottle fed son, she was concerned that he had been sleeping 12 hours at night and was now waking at 4.30am for a feed, so when she asked the HV about weaning him the HV's remark was " well they do recommend you wait until 4 months, but all babies are different and I can't see that it would do him any harm " - I was amazed that somebody who should know about this could say something so stupid! - it turns out after I was talking to her for a bit longer that she was putting DS to bed at 7pm and for about a week he'd been sleeping 12 hours so she hadn't bothered waking him for a later feed at 11pmish, she'd put him onto hungry baby formula (at the HV's instruction!) and this hadn't solved it - when I pointed out he was probably hungry from not having enough formula and to re-instate the late feed he would probably be ok it was like a light dawning! - she went back to that and he now back sleeping 12 hours, and her HV's comment was " O well yes that would probably help " 2nd Dippy HV (and unfortunately mine!) My neighbour has a 4 week old daughter (also bottle fed) who eats like there's not tomorrow and when said neighbour told this to the HV here comment was, " well it's a good job your not breast feeding she'd be constantly attached " I was astounded, how on earth do you answer that! I'm a very pro breast feeding person, but also a different strokes for different folks kind a girl - I knew my HV was completely useless, but for her to come out with a comment like that, I'm glad that I rarely see her, and certainly shan't be bothering in the near future! Jo SAHM to Ethan HB 29.06.00 blowing off some steam at HV's whilst getting very wound up about Ethan's 1st birthday party tomorrow!
