Guest guest
>>My personal theory is that wipes warmers are a byproduct of the baby shower industry. Haha, this brought back memories. I was in the US when I was 7 months pregnant, and had dinner with the very sweet, but very American girlfriend of a friend of ours. Oh you must have enjoyed buying all those cute little baby items, right, she says. Dh and I look at each other. Eeeh, we haven't really bought a thing, we say. Shock, horror. She looks at us in disbelief. Oh, but at least you will be getting lots at the baby shower, she says. The baby shower? we say. We get visions of another crazy American consumer item - ie a special shower for a baby? The babies we know have baths, we say. No, no, she says, the BABY SHOWER. Long explanations follow. I don't she really believed us although we kept insisted that we'd never heard of such a thing, and that no - my mother, my company, my mother-in-law, the neighbours, and our friends were not all going to arrange crazy baby shower parties to shower us with gifts...
