Ruthie, I love your postings! I'm inspired by your mothering and grandmothering

skills!

But from past experience I know that (a) I find certain aspects of certain

religions deeply irritating (I won't elaborate, as it would only wind me and any

believers up) and (B) there is nothing so pointless as trying to hold a rational

discussion about anyone's deeply-held religious beliefs (please don't get

offended by the word rational there - I'm certain that ykwim), so I just skim

over any religious content, whether concerning circumcision, first communion, or

the second coming, that is likely to make me question, rationalise or " tut " .

(TBH I do this at a lot of the real nappy posts too... )

:-)

Having said which, could you enlighten me as to how frum the Chief Rabbi is? I

was wondering this morning if the appointment is usually middle of the road or

holier than holy, in this country. I suspect the former but I'd be interested

to know. Is there a hierarchy of rabbis, like there is of priests in the RC and

Anglican churches (and others I know but there are also lots of denominations

where there isn't so... trying really hard not to get anything wrong here!)

BTW, Tim is now stringing words together and has mastered plurals!
