Guest guest
Hi group, I know that this has been addressed in the past, but it's a complex topic that I can't seem to get my head around. My only fungal problem for a long time was Tinea Versicolor, a skin fungus that appears mostly on the chest as pale non-itchy freckles. Every couple of weeks, I put jock itch cream on wherever the spots turn up and they go away after a couple of days. But my dump phase symptoms (which led me to this group and got me to start chelating) were a chronic vaginal yeast infection that went on and off for weeks and months. I cut out the sugar and got on probiotics (and DMSA) at it seems to be mostly under control. The skin fungus, however, keeps recurring. I know it's part of the whole systemic thing and would love to get rid of it. I wonder if that's possible to do, or if I just have to sit it out for a couple of years until chelation ends (I'm on round 10). What I've tried so far: Tea tree oil, topically (useless), garlic caps (can't tolerate it, it lowers my blood sugar), biotin (can't remember what the side effect was, but I can't tolerate it), probiotics (they help with the yeast infections, but seem to have no effect on the skin), coconut oil, topically (just started, seems to hold it back a bit). I ordered caprylic acid caps, and it just arrived, and also oregano oil. I'm not sure if I should take the oregano, or use it topically. Has anyone had any experience with it? I'm kind of scared of strong or prescription yeast-killing drugs. Aren't they like antibiotics, killing off good stuff as well as the yeast? I'd like to hear people's advice in this area. Thank you, Aine PS: I'm curious if this is a yeast thing or something else. At Christmas, I gave myself a treat and ate gluten free cake that was full of sugar (two slices!) and it killed my immune system and I got really sick with strep throat. Does the yeast do this to the immune system, or is it a whole other thing?

When I had a fungal infection on my skin several years ago, I got rid of it by applying garlic directly to my skin. I would not recommend doing it exactly as I did it - I crushed garlic cloves and applied them to my skin under gauze bandages. I burned my skin doing this, but it did get rid of the fungal infection. I would suggest something a bit gentler like applying some of the juice from crushed garlic, or perhaps some diluted GSE, and see how that works. I would apply it a few times per day. > I ordered caprylic acid caps, and it just arrived, and also oregano > oil. I'm not sure if I should take the oregano, or use it > topically. I haven't used oregano oil very much, but I expect it might help topically. > I'm kind of scared of strong or prescription yeast-killing drugs. > Aren't they like antibiotics, killing off good stuff as well as the > yeast? I'd like to hear people's advice in this area. Some of the natural stuff can kill off good bacteria, too. I believe caprylic acid and coconut oil do not cause this problem - at least that is my experience. Sometimes the Rx stuff may work better than natural stuff, but I think you have to decide based on your own situation if this makes sense. Some of the Rx things can be hard on the liver. > Thank you, > Aine > > PS: I'm curious if this is a yeast thing or something else. Does the yeast do this to the immune > system, or is it a whole other thing? Well, mercury can reduce immune function, both directly and indirectly. I tend the think the yeast is more the effect than the cause. --
