Dr.'s visit

Hi all,

Well, I had a disappointing visit with my doctor today. I wanted her

to do the TSI, but she refused! This really surprised me. She

didn't even want to talk about it. She also pushed RAI again, trying

to convince me that I wouldn't have to deal with fluctuations and

could stay on that one little pill. I told her my father has

hypothryoidism and I knew it wasn't that easy. She said he has a

different disease...blah,blah,blah. Anyway, they did do a blood draw

and I'm curious to see what my TSH is. (was 3.98 last month) I guess

I need to try to find a doctor that is willing to work with me on

doing ATD's long term. I've been on them for one year now. Today

the doc tried to tell me that I really need RAI because I'm still

having what she calls " fluctuations " after a year....I tried to

explain that I wouldn't have had if the first endo hadn't totally

screwed up the meds in the first place.

She said that I will now be in a difficult position with the ATDs

because 10mg might be too much and 5mg might be too little. She said

that my disease might " flare up " and then I " ll need a dosage

adjustment. My question is...anyone out there dropped to 2.5mg a day

and been able to stay on that for any length of time?

So, I am now on 5mg and still feeling hypO. Today I noticed one of

my fingernails is grooved and rough in one place. Anyone else have

that? Ugh, I feel (once again) completely disgusted with doctors! I

wanted so much to scream at her today, " I " M NOT DOING RAI...GET OVER

IT AND HELP ME "

Oh well. Does anyone have a good doctor in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area

willing to do ATDs long term?

Thanks for listening!

Kristi
