Sorry I didn't get into this thread in time to help. Next time, blame the florist! Sneak a call to the florist, order roses, have them delivered ASAP. Then when they come, mutter and grump around, saying things like THOSE DAMN FLORISTS. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THOSE HERE FIRST THING THIS MORNING. I'M NEVER USING THEM AGAIN. And then a little "I'm sorry dear that they screwed it up. I tried so hard. How about I take you to dinner to make up for their mistake." And tell the waitress it's her birthday and the wait staff can all come trooping out with that "Do I have to do this again?" expression and serenade the little woman and all will be right in your world. Gotta be a little creative sometimes.
