Guest guest
Hi , The eye problems can indeed wax and wane. some eye symptoms are caused by abnormal thyroid hormone levels and those symptoms resolve when levels are corrected, and re-appear if things get out of balance. As for the congestive symptoms, which would include double vision, symptoms can wax and wane and are highly influenced by stress and diet. Sugar and saturated fats, for instance, cause immune system changes that promote inflammation, fluid retention and congestion. Some people have an eye disease course that's marked by occasional flare-ups, whereas other people can have a rapidly progressive disease course. The milder forms of the eye disease, including the occasional flare-ups generally resolve on their own, whereas the progressive forms generally require some sort of immunosuppressant treatment. Studies using sophisticated imaging techniques show that most everyone with Graves' disease will show signs of eye congestion, but only about 30% of people go on to develop clinically significant eye disease. Of these people, only about 5% have severe eye disease. The odds are in your favor. Take care, Elaine
