Guest guest
Phyllis - could you tell us the name of the book you mentioned re being sensitive? I certainly feel physically sick when I hear about, never mind hear, torture (even reading of things that went on in medieval & Tudor England). I couldn't eat or sleep for three days after going to the Yad Vashem memorial/museum in Jerusalem. I think it's your husband who was being unreasonable actually (not wanting to start anything though,). I worry that DS can hear things on the telly which is in the room underneath where he sleeps and have plans to ban the thing into the dining room with a nice comfortable :-) settle to sit on (yes, maybe am being a little unreasonable). It's his father who is watching the things incidentally, I am welded to the computer of course...in the freezing even in midsummer hall....so I wear a hat and get funny looks from the people next door as they go up the garden. C'est la vie.... I think there is something wrong with a society that can sit and watch those things on the television but can't bear to see the body of someone who has died peacefully (or not) in their home or hospital, thus getting a terrible fear of death. Or bone a chicken, (apologies to veggies). Or clean a toilet, even.... It seems to me that we've chucked out all the 'normal' bloody and messy things in life for this weird little semi sterile world and still need to fill the gap with something, so we go over the top. Comments on a postcard, please... Caro Apologies for delayed reaction, if you've all moved on from this, but am digesting these days as am supposed to be editing newsletter instead of reading nct coffee (but couldn't quite bring myself to unsubscribe altogether - does anyone else have equal problems in leaving this list??? But I haven't eaten chocolate for 36 hours!)

It's called something like 'The highly sensitive person: how to survive when the world overwhelms you.' It's by a woman, maybe Sylvia something? Just looked it up on amazon. It's Elaine Aron and here's the link (probably too long to just click on): http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0722538960/o/qid=993325148/sr =8-1/202-2119899-3445400 HTH, Phyllis
