Sometimes when I look at my husband I just want to burst and cry, but I must be very strong, in order to make things easier. Filippo doesn't like talking about his cancer. He's very optimistic, but I know he's like this, So I won't worry. I wish we could talk about it. Am I wrong? My doctor has given me some anxiety drops and apart from praying I do a lot of writing to keep my mind away from those sad thoughts. How do you people handle this situation emotionaly? All my love to you all, Lydia Hi Lydia! You are on the right track. If there is a local support group where you are or a caring friend to talk to that is also helpful. Work with the doctor on the antidepressant thing. As for the tears a friend whose husband had a different cancer told me when she felt a crying jag coming she'd go take a nice warm shower. She laughs now that she was cleaner then than any other time of her life! Another thing that helps is helping others. As you know from Semi Colon Group Priscilla's organizing a massive screening for all campaign that will lead to a March on Washington in March 2006. Right now many of us are writing letters to our elected officials, doctors, and news media to promote support and awareness for colonoscopies for all adults beginning at age 18-20. Many argue this is too young but one brave 29 year old, here, Amy knows how wrong these words are! Amy has Stage 4 colon cancer. Lastly you put your faith in God or a Higher Power and pray with all your might because none of us have any idea where this journey will lead us. As much as we wish we could make it all go away none of us even the doctors can fully control what will happen. It is in God's hands. If you can let go of the natural instinct to want to fix it, and live a day an hour or even a minute at a time it doesn't necessarily get BETTER but it is a little easier.
