Last night we had a lovely visitor for supper, a school friend of

mine, Miri, and her 11 yr old daughter. Miri and I have been friends

since we were 11, and believe me, that's a LONG time! She lives in

a West Bank settlement in Israel, so I don't see her too often, but we

see each other when I am there, or when she is here, and always get

on well when we get together.

After DH and I took Miri and her daughter back to where she was

staying, (treated them to a ride in my convertible with the roof down,

they loved it!), it was about 10.30 pm. DH said : " shall we watch a

movie? "

I said : " it's a bit late " . (thinking of the average DVD being 2 hrs

long.

" OK, let's see what's on TV, we could watch for a bit. "

All the terrestrial channels didn't have anything on at that hour, so

he settled down to play chess on Yeshaya's computer (all the PCSs and

the tv are in my room, and I have winTV on my computer too.)

I could have been asleep by 11.30 if I hadn't made the fatal mistake

of flicking through the cable channels on my winTV. We don't have that

many channels as we only pay for the cheapest possible cable package.

But I found a classic movie channel which had some kind of gangster

movie on. DH got hooked. It ended at 12.45 a.m. I was in bed by 12,

begging him to switch it off and let me sleep.

My last conherent thought: " If we'd watched one of the DVD's, they

would have finished half an hour earlier than that cable movie! "
