When we had DS2 I still wanted clothes for him - despite having loads from DS1. I knew he was going spend most of his life in hand-me-downs - so like the idea of him having his won clothes. If the eldest is 18 months old, then the baby will have been born at a different time of year, so your friend may well not have suitable clothes for a summer newborn. When I buy pressies as clothes, I usually buy for an older age - say 6 months to a year. You could buy something that the little boy can wear when he is 1.
