Guest guest
It must be very irritating, Beverley, but patience is the key, I think!! First of all, you say she is still 'loose'. I think you need to check out that she hasn't picked up some infection, which might be troubling her. Perhaps the dr would send a stool sample away for analysis? It's worth remembering, too, that when she tells you she doesn't need to go she probably doesn't *at that very moment* but the need can arise very quickly in little ones, especially if its loose. I agree with ?Ruthie that saying she'll go to school in pull-ups rather than saying she won't go to school is a better strategy. Have you tried getting her to clean up after herself? I know its not a very nice thought but if she has to get her own dirty knickers off, wash herself and her clothes in a bowl of soapy water and find clean clothes she might decide it isn't worth the effort! Obviously, you need to make sure everything is okay on the hygiene front by making sure she then washes her hands thoroughly and the knickers can then go in the usual machine wash (so long as you don't let her see you putting them in the machine!) HTH Lesley --------- From: Beverly Hi all Have been a bit quiet since my return from holiday - I had forgotten the sheer amount of mail just this group produces alone! Anyway, wondered if any of you could help with a problem that has developed with DD1 (aged 2 yrs 10 months). Grace has been potty trained fully for a good 7 months with very few accidents (both poo and wee), although I still put her in pull-ups when she goes down for her afternoon nap. Whilst on holiday she started to poo herself. To begin with I decided it was an upset tummy, very loose etc (pardon the descriptions) As we were away, different food, ice cream etc. It often happened whilst in the pool (gross I know) and without fail she did not tell us - we had to ask her. Because I had put it down to an upset tummy I reverted to putting her in pull ups at all times and she was very good regarding wee but poos are another story. It is now over 6 weeks, we have been home from holiday 2 weeks and she is still doing it. Some days she is still very loose, and I wonder if she even knows that she is going. What annoys/hurts the most is that I ask her continually if she needs to go and she says no, then she does one in her knickers and denies it! What can I do? I am at my wits end. I have told her that only babies poo their knickers and she will not be able to go to school. Her answer to this is a quick shrug of the shoulders and tells me she'd rather play in the garden.
