Guest guest
DS1 used to refuse to sit on the toilet for poos and insisted on the potty. Since he is going to school in a few weeks I was beginning to get a bit worried. Well, we went on holiday with my parents in June, and they *trained* him by introducing " poo prizes " . DS1 chose what he wanted (a packet of 8 small cars from a supermarket), and then every time he did a poo on the toilet he chose one. There was a lot of chat about which vehicle he was going to have next and they were much anticipated and prized. This carried on until the end of the holiday, I explained that since he was so clever I'd throw the potty away when we got home (luckily DS2 poos on the toilet already!) and since we have been home he has been absolutely brilliant. My parents were sooo patient and I think the concentration on training really helped. The whole thing was fun (even DS2 didn't seem to get jealous). Only problem is that now talks to people intently and enthusiastically about his " poo prizes " and no one has a clue what he is going on about. phine (Mum to nearly 4 & Ben nearly 3, Cambridge NCT) : We're still struggling with potty training a year after starting. DS *can* do it (there were a couple of weeks when he was absolutely fine) but now we seem to have relapsed.
