Guest guest
Many of you know that the Colorectal Cancer Network is planning to gather 1000 survivors in March in Washington, D.C. to give attention to the fact that we need the age 50 reduced to at least 40 for colonoscopy screening. Most everyone here knows from personal experience that if you get the polyp, you skip the cancer. But like in my case, by the time I was diagnosed at 50 in 2001, it was a crisis.......surgeries, chemo, radiation suddenly became everyday words in my vocabulary. And now, 4 years later I am about to have reconstructive surgery in September due to radiation damage. All of that was avoidable if I had been screened at 40, just like we are told to get our mammograms and pap smears for breast and ovarian cancer screening. Colorectal Cancer Network is trying to gather statistics by way of a poll in a separate Yahoo Group. We would like to see about 50 new members a week take this poll. Your identity will not be public information. My entire family has been screened after seeing what the side effects of treatments did to me, so I know they will join in taking the poll, results of which will be used as a tool in March to prove the point that screening is less expensive and more life saving at 40 than age 50. If you or other family and friends would like to learn more about the ProjectMARCH, please visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ProjectMARCH or email: Priscilla Savary at ProjectMARCH-owner Please help us raise awareness so that our children and grandchildren do not have to go thru what we did.
