Apologies if this seems too close to spam...

As we know, there are quite a few of us with EMS certifications who don't

work on a 911 ambulance full-time, either because we're in a different

aspect of EMS (such as education or working in another medical setting) or

because we work in a different career full-time.

For those of us who fit into that niche and who still miss being in an

active emergency response role, County Emergency Services District 1 is

looking for you. We are currently seeking experienced EMT-Intermediates

and Paramedics who want to join our growing reserve program. As always, we

welcome all applications from all certified providers, but we are making an

extra effort to seek out experienced EMT-Intermediates and Paramedics who

can hit the ground running.

I've recently been asked to coordinate and revitalize what was formerly

known as our volunteer program. Step one was to change the name to help

HCESD-1 stand out. Step two is actively recruiting new reserve medics.

HCESD-1 asks for a minimum of twelve hours monthly from our reserve medics,

although we encourage our reserves to contribute 24 hours or more monthly.

In return, you will get free continuing education opportunities,

uniforms, and the opportunity to practice under extremely progressive protocols

in

a high volume urban EMS setting. From my firsthand experience, I can say

that you'll see and experience things that are rarely seen or done in any

EMS setting. The call volume and patient acuity are an excellent challenge

and can provide the concentrated 911 experience that you've been seeking.

Currently, our reserve medics function as third crew members on our trucks,

but plans are being developed to allow reserve medics to staff additional

units for peak staffing and special events. In addition to our 911

operations, additional opportunities may be available, on a case-by-case basis,

to

work with our critical care, education, and communications programs.

If you're one of the medics we're looking for, I encourage you to visit the

HCESD-1 web site (_www.hcesd-1.org_ (http://www.hcesd-1.org) ) to apply

for our reserve program. As always, I'm available via email or phone call

to answer questions about HCESD-1. Don't let distance get in the way of

considering HCESD-1, as several of us (myself included) commute from long

distances.

Can you elaborate a bit on this point?
