I might also add that I caught a lot of resistance and that resistance was and

did accomplish exactly what has happened.

You are correct in what you say and I thank you for you belief, trust and

vision. I would not put a check in the mail until we get some answers to the

viability, or if the organization still legally exists. I have,. and others have

asked questions about where the organizations stands in every aspect and we are

not receiving what is public information. So I will ask the 4 EMSAT BOD now once

again to respond to the EMS Community the full condition, and all the aspects we

as an EMS Community needs to know to move EMSAT forward. If I do not get any

response then I will take the avenues left to me, and none are pleasant for me

and very time consuming, but my be the only choice I'm given. I would also ask

that a EMSAT Board Member contact me on my cell to discuss this as

much out of a public forum as possible.

Barely hours have gone by and you make threats.

Perhaps Ron this is why we faked over time?

I work for a living in a crap economy. I am on a trip for the week out

of Texas. I've answered the question posed in an as candid and as

public way as possible. Intact in the past year I've answer the half

dozen or so E-Mails on this kis and over a dozen private ones sent to

me in the same way.

The last threat you issused cost the EMSAT BoD a Member.

At least one BoD Member quit specicLly for the reason if wing tired of

explaing what was done by prior EMSAT Boards.

EMS eats its young and old, we focus oh so much on the WIIFM and than

bitch moan and grown when we don't get it. The probles in EMS overall

as well as in Texas EMS can be summed up in one word.

Then may I suggest we start the forum now, here on this email list, to

move forward. I have confidence that no matter what the condition of

EMSAT right now, it can be revitalized and be relevant. It seems

apparent that you and Louis will push through the administrative and

legal aspects. Please do keep us informed. Meanwhile, everyone out

there, what do you wish EMSAT was doing right now? What are your

burning issues?

Ron,

Let me preface this by saying I'm not your lawyer (nor am I EMSAT's lawyer), but

EMSAT is a private organization and answers to its membership and its board of

directors. While EMSAT should make efforts to increase its membership and its

visbility, it doesn't owe you, me, or any other self-appointed EMS experts

answers. EMSAT can live and die on its efforts -- and I think we've seen the

collective answer from Texas EMS to EMSAT's efforts.

I personally believe that's a need, a role, and a place for an association that

represents all EMS providers in Texas, but the majority of Texas certified

providers (myself included at times) have failed to see what EMSAT membership

does for them. Mere histrionics saying that you have to join EMSAT haven't done

much. While I understand your passion for EMSAT (or some other state EMS

association), I'm not really sure what is accomplished merely by having an

organization that claims to represent all of EMS, especially when we don't even

seem to want an association as witnesses by EMSAT's current status.

Re: EMSAT

I tried to join a few months ago and could not make the website work for

me. I intended to try again but forgot. I would still like to join and

support the effort. If EMSAT is a good idea (and I think it is), let's

not let the setback cause it to go away. So many individuals,

organizations and companies have seen very hard times before ultimate

success. There does appear to be a need for EMSAT as DSHS is the only

voice EMS has in the state.

Perhaps this list can be used to determine what needs to be done and the

directions EMSAT needs to go. That may well grow the organization and

yield even more interesting projects.

I have tried the website again with no luck. So, this time I will just

put the requested information on a piece of paper, enclose an check and

use snail-mail. Oh the anguish when technology fails!

Be safe everyone and think about getting this organization into gear

Perhaps we should wait until the legal standing of the organization and the

apparent fight between current and former board members is worked out. The mere

fact that we have to ask " what is EMSAT doing now " indicates an issue.

Has EMSAT thought about joining forces w/ CLEAT? CLEAT moved into the

EMS realm several years ago when they started representing the medics

of Austin / County. They are looking to expand their membership

in EMS & have done some good for Austin / County. With their

PAC & knowledge in geting stuff passed through the state legislature,

this might make for a good partnership. I thought about joining EMSAT

a while back & did sign up online but never recieved a confirmation. I

was disappointed w/ no local represntation & no political action in

progress (i.e. Getting legislation going for bringing EMT's /

Paramedics in the Civil Service realm like fire fighters & police

officers, or bringing us into the collective bargaining realm). It's

hard being in the emergency setting w/ police & fire while not having

the benefits they do.

My two cents if it makes sense. I just got off duty & am typing this

in a semi concious state. LOL

LOL

While it's certainly not what any of us want to hear, I have to admit that this

is the most simple, yet profound summary of our situation to be had. But let's

face it, the majority of our ranks have no more than one hundred some-odd hours

invested in this " profession " . From that perspective, it's easy to see why few

of us get passionate enough to try and make a difference.
