While it's certainly not what any of us want to hear, I have to admit that this

is the most simple, yet profound summary of our situation to be had. But let's

face it, the majority of our ranks have no more than one hundred some-odd hours

invested in this " profession " . From that perspective, it's easy to see why few

of us get passionate enough to try and make a difference.

You raise another excellent point. How the public views us is even more

important than how we view ourselves.

Wes,

EMSAT is NOT a Private Organization as you have described. I am a member

and I will ask questions as a member and I have a right to ask questions of Tax

Exempt Organizations that takes money from the public. Right? When did EMSAT

become private? Are you saying as a member I'm a self appointed expert based on

what? I was a founding member and President for many years and can tell you

EMSAT did do a lot of good, and I'm sorry you missed it, but I don't care to go

backwards and will continue to move forward as much as I can. It sounds more

your trying to defend someone or something. Not sure which if either. Are you a

Member of EMSAT?

Sincerely,

Ron

Ron,

Let me preface this by saying I'm not your lawyer (nor am I EMSAT's lawyer), but

EMSAT is a private organization and answers to its membership and its board of

directors. While EMSAT should make efforts to increase its membership and its

visbility, it doesn't owe you, me, or any other self-appointed EMS experts

answers. EMSAT can live and die on its efforts -- and I think we've seen the

collective answer from Texas EMS to EMSAT's efforts.

I personally believe that's a need, a role, and a place for an association that

represents all EMS providers in Texas, but the majority of Texas certified

providers (myself included at times) have failed to see what EMSAT membership

does for them. Mere histrionics saying that you have to join EMSAT haven't done

much. While I understand your passion for EMSAT (or some other state EMS

association), I'm not really sure what is accomplished merely by having an

organization that claims to represent all of EMS, especially when we don't even

seem to want an association as witnesses by EMSAT's current status.

Re: EMSAT

I tried to join a few months ago and could not make the website work for

me. I intended to try again but forgot. I would still like to join and

support the effort. If EMSAT is a good idea (and I think it is), let's

not let the setback cause it to go away. So many individuals,

organizations and companies have seen very hard times before ultimate

success. There does appear to be a need for EMSAT as DSHS is the only

voice EMS has in the state.

Perhaps this list can be used to determine what needs to be done and the

directions EMSAT needs to go. That may well grow the organization and

yield even more interesting projects.

I have tried the website again with no luck. So, this time I will just

put the requested information on a piece of paper, enclose an check and

use snail-mail. Oh the anguish when technology fails!

Be safe everyone and think about getting this organization into gear

Actually, EMSAT is a private organization, of which you're a member. Does EMSAT

take money from the public? I was unaware that EMSAT was under any contracts to

receive public money or funding.

I gave up my EMSAT membership a while back when I realized that EMSAT did not do

noticed, I'm more than capable of speaking for myself.

Actually Ron very early on in my tender on the BoD we changed the

ByLaws and removed the provision that Founding Members were lifetime

Nembers as no one on that BoD felt that it was a reasonable provision

in fact in my 29 years of active involvement in such orginizations I'd

never seen such a provision. Life Memberships yes but not such a

provaion of same.

I was told that an E-Mail was sent to the last know address of those

Actually Ron very early on in my tender on the BoD we changed the

ByLaws and removed the provision that Founding Members were lifetime

Nembers as no one on that BoD felt that it was a reasonable provision

in fact in my 29 years of active involvement in such orginizations I'd

never seen such a provision. Life Memberships yes but not such a

provaion of same.

I was told that an E-Mail was sent to the last know address of those

in that catagory. I can not state it was and would not challange

anyone saying it was not as I have no way to prove it was.

Ron, you too are a great guy and I certianly respect what you've done

in the past locally and statewide in you're career. We have many

things in common o. Of which is we tend to be tater blunt and direct.

That will either endear us to others or villify us in thier eyes.

May e I am just having a bad day (more like 6 months) and maybe I owe

you an apolgy for the raking over the coals you precieve. Preception

is after all reality.

I herby submit that apolgy.
