Guest guest
Good afternoon, For a project I am working on I am collecting a list of all of the procedures, assessment techniques, or anything else that you were taught in EMT/Paramedic school and then told " You will never actually use that. " Extra points if you found out later you could use it. You can e-mail me off list if you want. Thanks in advance. Mayfield

Guest guest
I'll respond from the perspective of an EMS instructor. I teach pharmacology in depth, and the most common complaint I hear is that paramedic students have been told by their work partners/preceptors that they don't need to know how drug receptors work because " All you need to know is what the protocol says. " Gene G. " You'll never use that in the field. " A great illustration of exactly why I have long maintained that paramedic education is best achieved with the so-called " zero to hero " students, who have no EMT-B field experience. The fewer misconceptions, pre-conceived and ill-conceived notions, and bad habits they bring to paramedic school, the easier it is to properly educate them.
