Guest guest
I'd sure hat to live anywhere when the mistake of a 19 year old in love with a 17 year old or something like that could be held against you for life in a broad stroke. The term " Sex Offender " is SO broad it is also so heinous that if you term a person as such the details are lost. Case by case would make so much sense. As was said there are 8 or so cases in Texas and that's in a pool of 50,000 certified folks. Louis N. I dont think an organization (TDH, the EMS service the sex offender works for) would have such a liability. There are many cases when people are in there teens (17&18) and dating a younger person, depending on the age difference this can actually be considered illegal in some situations. The young couple might have agreed to be together.... no harm but the state/law doesn't agree, then someone is convicted for being a sex offender. So from that point forward the person will be categorized as a sex offender for the rest of their life. ________________________________ From: Fire/Rescue - Pat Fitzpatrick _frplf@..._ (mailto:frplf@...) > To: _texasems-l@yahoogrotexasem_ (mailto:texasems-l ) Sent: Fri, May 7, 2010 11:51:13 AM Subject: Re:Convicted Sex Offender Caught Riding On Ambulance - KRGV CHANNEL 5 N You can find this is Texas. We have a certified EMT in the Panhandle that is listed on the DPS site as a registered sex offender. I reported it to our area contact. She checked and said the state level knew about it and would not do anything about it. I was told that there are 8 or 9 registered sex offenders that have certifications in Texas.
