Guest guest
Gene,  While I agree that we as EMS Professionals should charge for our off-time, especially for some big major event like this one. However, for some small local event I can see where some local EMT's or medics might volunteer their time.  Those that may like events such as this one will volunteer their time. I also agree, that if this is a major event and they are paying for security or APD personnel, then they should pay for EMS personnel. I'm sure that Austin/ County EMS would not do this for free.  Happy EMS Week!!  Wayne For the past several years, the ROT Biker Rally has been rated the " Best motorcycle rally in Texas " and attracts over 60,000 participants. Guest guest
Gene,          I ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR COMMENTS !  Ever thought of doing the " Harvey " of EMS?                                         \                                         \                                         \             Good Day! ________________________________ To: texasems-l Sent: Tue, May 18, 2010 12:23:14 AM Subject: Re: Medics Needed! ROT Rally 2010  Have you EVER heard of off-duty police volunteering for any promoter sponsored event? And you never will. They get paid their customary off-duty pay. Why should EMTs, who I THOUGHT were medical professionals, give their services away to a money making scheme run by promoters? I made a similar rant about volunteering to be a set medic some years ago and you would have thought I had insulted Willie and Jerry Jeff . When are we going to stop playing EMT and act like the professionals we are? I can see volunteering for a charity cause if everybody else is contributing their time and talents, but for a biker rally? No way. BTW, if you do volunteer, who do you think is going to cover you if you are hurt or you get sued for something you do? The promoters? Surely you jest. GG Re: Medics Needed!
