Guest guest
Kate,Gilenya is the new oral medication. That is one of the meds my doctor considered for me, but if you start out on Gilenya, you usually can't go to tysabri after, because Gilenya causes significant immunisuppresion.....but holy cow, it's oral! Guest guest
Goodness - have never gotten such a wonderful welcome! Thank you! My name is Maureen. I am the mother of four and the proud grandmother to three. Oldest granddaughter lives with us and that's actually when I was diagnosed. After a year on Copaxone my MRIs were worse so I switched to Betaseron. In April 2010 I had a relapse (MRIs also found a sizeable brain aneurysm). Spent the past fifteen months visiting all sorts of doctors, getting IV steroids and IVIG and recovering from brain surgery. Neuro now wants me to start on Gilenya because she says it's much more effective than the ABC drugs against relapses. My first delivery is actually arriving this Wednesday - I still have to schedule my first dose observation, before I start. Guest guest
Hi Maureen! How old are your grandkids? What part of the country are you in?I live in eastern Arizona. We live off-grid, getting our power from solar panels and a wind generator. I am mom to two very grown children (39 and 41) and eight grandkids ages 7 to 24. I share a home with my son, daughter-in-law and four of my grandkids. I have chickens and ducks and often bore everyone with news about them. I am not on any MS drugs but I was on Avonex for 5 years.Welcome!!hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Thanks for your introduction, Maureen. You will find this to be quite a knowledgeable, caring, supportive, encouraging AND fun group! What a blessing to have had the MRI so they could see that you had an aneurysm.I can relate to you on 2 things; I have a large family also. I'm mom to 5, though no grandchildren yet! I've also had brain surgery, however, mine was for my trigeminal neuralgia, to see if there was a blood vessel pressing on the nerve. There was a vein which they cauterized, but I still have pain. They say with MS, there is usually a recurrence of pain. How do they do the observation? Do they come to your home, or do you go inpatient somewhere for them to watch you? How long do you need to be monitored for? Sorry for all the questions!Welcome again, hugs,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Sun, July 3, 2011 1:04:30 PMSubject: Re: NEW MEMBER --"bic_gram" Goodness - have never gotten such a wonderful welcome!
