Unions are very much a different animal in the North. They actually have power

but they are labor organizations no more no less.

Unions in Texas are a bit of a joke to anyone who has been unionized in a more

pro union state.

You are partly correct, in that when speaking of unions in the EMS

environment.... It is a whole different story however in the

petrochemical industry... I worked in a very strong union environment

(OCAW now USW) in Southeast Texas.

Les I see your point but one reason those unions are strong is the other places

that have them and the fact that there are only so many oil companies in the

world.

The IAFF is a pretty decent power union as unions go but in Texas we a few

exceptions they've got nothing on the northern boys.
