Guest guest
Hi Tina, I think its hormones too. I was looking up menopause and blood sugar rises, and apparently the decreasing estrogens and progesterone cause a rise in blood sugar. Oy! Christian did get thru his sleep study for the most part and he was dx’ed with sleep apnea. I told my daughter that I thought he had it and that was why he couldn’t stay asleep. I think too that may have contributed to his tantrums. I know I get irritable and can’t handle stress very well when I don’t get the proper sleep. Poor little guy has had to deal with this ever since he was born. I’m just thankful his brain woke him up, and he wasn’t a SIDS baby. So now they have to send the report to his Dr., and she has to submit it to the state [he’s on state medical] so they can decided to do the tonsillectomy/adenoid surgery. He woke up a couple times during the night crying, which he does at home too. I don’t think he’s had but a few nights of full sleep since he was born. Its very scary to wake up gasping for air as I can attest to that. It gets the adrenal pumping, and then its hard to go back to sleep. Tina was able to sleep in the same room as him, and when he was crying she got to get in bed with him. They were very good at making sure everything went as smoothly as they could. Tina had her tonsils out when she was 8, and like you she had to have so many sore throats a year which she did before they would take them out. Because of his breathing problems he never took naps unless he was exhausted. And it took a lot to wind him down. I thought too that maybe he was afraid to go to sleep so he stayed awake as long as he could. Sorry to hear your MS is flaring also. We are having almost record high 90’s all weekend and half of next week, but the humidity seems to be staying low. Next week it’s going to drop back down to the mid 70’s and I can hardly wait. I want to get out and go visit the little town we might move to. When I am flaring it seems like all I want to do is sleep. I’ve added another nap midday, and more pain meds and it has helped, but sometimes I feel like all I do anymore is sleep. I’ve never been one to like going to bed anyhow. Prayers for you to feel well soon!Hugs, Jackie J From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On Behalf Of Tina SchmidtSent: Friday, September 09, 2011 12:50 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Hello anyone home? Hi, Jackie. That's interesting about your blood sugar spiking on your painful days. And I'm sorry about your leg. It seems like the parts of the body that we depend on, now that other parts go bad, seem to go out at the worst times.I hope they got good results with Christian's sleep study. I had my tonsils out in '82, back when it was normal for people with constant strep throat or tonsillitis to get it. After the surgery, my mom said it was the first time she'd seen the back of my throat for a year! I know with my boys when they were that age, sleeping in a strange place (not to mention with all the wires) one of either hubby or I would have to sleep in the bed with them (except at the grandparents - but at that time grandparents babysat them, so going to sleep over there was no big thing). Did Tina have to keep him awake all day with no naps? If she did, I can't imagine that went over well.My MS is acting up, too - I'm sure I'm having a flare, I'm just waiting on the doctor's office to call me back. My left arm is essentially useless for all the pain I get when I use it, and my hands are very weak....even my left leg is getting in on the act. The muscle spasms are bad enough that hubby and I went out today to get a mousepad for him. The place was in Clayton (I guess it took 45 minutes to get there) and since it was a computer store, and hubby is a geek, he decided to look around. We were supposed to pick up soda, cereal and milk on the way back, but I was having so many problems and I was so tired I begged him just to go straight home so I could go lay down. The fatigue has been terrible, too - I've been napping at least two hours every day, and spend at least some time stretched out on the sofa resting as well.I hope you arm and leg get better.Tina Hey everyone, whats up? Where are you? I’ve been here but I have a sore arm again so it makes it hard to type much when you only have the one arm to use. I’m still having ups and downs with my blood sugar, one day it measures near normal, the next day it spikes. I’m thinking when my pain levels are up it affects it by making it higher than it should. My MS has been acting up too. My good leg seems to be getting weaker. I just don’t know what to do if it quits on me like my right arm/hand did. I don’t think exercising it will help because when I just walk across the room and back its so painful in my quadriceps it takes a couple minutes before it stops hurting when I sit down. So it’s obvious to me using it irritates whatever is going on in there. Either nerve involvement, or the Dercums lumps growing and wreaking havoc with the muscles. Or both. The family is doing okay. My grandson [Christian] had a sleep study done last night to see if he needed to have his tonsils and adenoids out. I hope it went okay. He’s a little scared of anything different, and at 2, I can’t imagine having lots of wires attached to him wouldn’t be okay. I guess they have ways to make it work. I’m just not sure he will allow it. Heck Tina can’t even get him out of his Spiderman pj’s! lol… he’s very strong willed. So I am hoping they were able to get enough readings to qualify him to have the surgery because he has had congestion ever since he was a newborn, and now they are saying his tonsils are so big they are almost touching each other. His breathing problems in my opinion is what has been the source of his erratic sleeping problems. He can’t breathe so he wakes up all the time. He’s never been able to be on a sleep schedule. Poor Tina because she needs her 8 hrs sleep to be worth anything, and she hasn’t been able to have a full night’s sleep for over 2-1/2 years now. God forbid her husband help out. Anyhow that’s about it for me, I hope everyone else is doing okay now. Hugs and love, Jackie [NW Oregon]
