Your dog is in my prayers. I was never a dog lover until I got my little dog I

have now. I was going through some very difficult times with my then 17 year

old daughter. I had also just had my first bout of acute panc and was not

recovering well. I got KayDee (for 's Dog) in Feb 2000. She is a

miniature dachshund. She is my love and I cannot imagine not having her with

me. She becomes very subdued and clingy any time she sees my suitcase out when

I'm packing for business trip. She provides me much comfort curled up in my lap

when I'm feeling bad.

Shortly after my hubby and I got married, we found out his dog had heartworm.

She was a very big (98 lb) outdoor country dog. The first vet told us we would

have to keep her penned up and not allow her to run at all for 2 months after

treatment. We didn't know what we would do. This dog had never been penned up

or even on a leash. We went to another vet and he told us that trying to pen

her up would probably cause her more harm than taking the chance on letting her

run. She went through the heartworm treatment and did just fine. She was about

10 years old at the time and she lived another 7 years after the treatment. I

will prya that your dog comes through just as well.

I do dog rescue and have had numerous dogs treated and they have all been

fine. Hope this eases you even though I know how stressful it can be. We

will light a candle for your dog and please let me know the outcome.

Hi

My prayers are with you and your little dog. I love my animals. They are part of

my family. I have 4 dogs...Suzie (14) who is now blind and cannot hear but is my

little sweetheart, she's part Yorkie and Poodle, Chelsea (9) who has back

problems (slipped disc), she's a llaso apso, Abigail (8) who is my velcro

doggie. She is a toy poodle and is by my side constantly, and last but not least

belle (affectionately know as Piggy) She is part Jack and

Chihuahua...She is 3 years old and can't get enough food! Of course she is now

on a permanet diet! I also have a Senegal Parrot named ...a sweet active

little bird.....that says Peek-a-Boo, tickle, Hi...I'm Daddy's baby

bird........and of course I do all the work! And then there is the new love of

my life.......Dixie.....a six month old African Congo Grey...she is simply

amazing and is so smart. We already are clicker training. She can go up and down

a ladder, turn around in a circle, ring a bell and soon we will be playing

basketball together.........So you can see I love animals and I know how

precious they are to us.

Please let us know how your precious dog is. Very Warm Thoughts and Prayers, Pam

either have him treated and risk death or face uncertain death by

withholding it. I could never do that so I took him in today for treatment.

I was up half of the night because I couldnt sleep. I think I have cried all

morning. He has helped me through so much. Maybe this doesn't seem right to

be this attatched but we are. Even the vet noticed it. He often is by my

side when I am sick and does not move. The only time he will get up is if I

do and then it is to follow me. He can be very playful but when I am sick

the most sedate dog you could be around. So any prayers would be

appreciated. I think I need them for strentgh as much as he does!

Hi !

I just had to write!

I will be praying for your beloved dog tonight that he gets well and

can continue to be of great comfort to you.

I know exactly how you feel! I have my wonderful Pug " Milo " to keep

my spirits up. I can be in so much pain and then he'll do something

really silly and put a smile on my face! It's miraculous!Better than

drugs.(somedays at least)

I love my dog(s) so much that tonight I'm going to put a pic of me

and them on the PAI web-site! It's a pic of me, Milo, and his new

bride Maggie Mae (who is now expecting! Yeah!)

Have a peaceful night!

God's blessings to you & your dog!

Cyndie :-)

I'm sorry I didn't get to this sooner... I missed it I guess when I was going

through the 300+ posts I had to catch up on. I hope that Rebel is doing well

and that your nerves are settled once again. I know that its hard to have

someone that you are that close to sick... (yes, my dogs and cats and rats are

like my kids and therefore are little people!) I wish you both the best!!!

  • 9 years later...

Here is a picture of my dog. I have been looking for a dog to train as an

assistance dog for over a year. Finally, I have a good candidate. He was

listed with the Northwest Great Pyrenees rescue:

http://northwestgreatpyrenees.com/available.html

A member of the service dog group I belong to found him on Petfinder. He was

living with his foster dad in Ritzville, WA until yesterday. His foster dad

brought him to my home yesterday. He has great indoor manners and is learning.

His foster dad has three purebreed Pyrs of his own and said that this dog is not

purebred. However, his best guess is that he may be part lab as well. He

definitely has a lab face.

His foster dad said that he is around a year old, probably not much more than a

year. He shouldn't get too much taller; but, will probably fill out more.

Hi Sharon, Polar is 26 inches at the top of the shoulders. So, he is closer to the size of Great Pyrenees. Labs are only about 22-24 inches at the shoulders. He is like a lab in many ways in that he knows no strangers. Of course, we don't get many visitors, so I don't know what he would do if a stranger showed up at home. But, he likes people, especially children. Donna in WA<html>
