Guest guest
Just received word from County Toll Road Authority that only licensed ambulance will be able to travel free on toll roads. My response was how do we handle our reserve amblances only in service during routine maintenance etc. Their reply, " The Texas Transportation Code will only allow registered ambulances free passage therefore the County Toll Road Authority is abiding by the State Law. The toll road is not authorized to enforce or follow the policies provided by DSHS nor does DSHS have any control over the criteria outlined in the Texas Transportation Code that allows registered ambulances to travel the Texas toll roads for free. Therefore vehicles on reserve status and/or non licensed ambulances may not travel the toll road for free according to the law in affect at this time. If a reserve or non licensed ambulance travels the toll road, you may add the license plate(s) to a personal paying account or stop and pay an attendant at every toll plaza and toll booth entrance or exit with cash. Please note that some of our toll road system is unmanned, therefore the license plate must be on an account to travel without receiving violations. " Curious how others will handle this issue. Looks like we will be obtaining toll passes for our reserve ambulances.
Guest guest
Consider your self lucky. In a state where we had a hell of a lot more lane miles if toll roads the only time an emergency vehicle got a free pass was while on a respond to the road itself. We put EasyPass on all our trucks and our 4 Command Chiefs had Company Provided Personal Accounts. We considered that a perk. Louis N. Guest guest
Cougar I must insist you stop this common sense stuff. We have no place for that in EMS or State Government. Louis N. You submit your paperwork, that can be verified by the State as to how many units you have licensed, and they issue that many tags. They would be encoded as non revenue, but would keep track of which units, and how many times. The system already does that for revenue tags. If your's is expired, and you go through it, you will receive a notice as to what time what location, and even what LANE you were occupying. > > It would be very simple for them to put this in place, and would cut down on a lot of paperwork, and expenses. > > Cougar!! > > I'll keep my Guns, my Freedom and my MONEY, > You can keep the " CHANGE.
