[DailyBrief] Pausing to give thanks for sacrifices made - lost two

Canadian medics today - KIA Afghanistan

An improvised explosive device struck an armoured vehicle in Afghanistan,

killing two Canadian medics, the military said Saturday. Master Cpl. Kristal

Giesebrecht, 34, and Pvt. , 21, were responding to a report

that a mine was found in the doorway of a home when an IED detonated,

killing them both about 20 km southwest of Kandahar. A third soldier is in

steady condition in a hospital at the Kandahar Airfield Base.

I realize every death strikes close to someone's home. This one strikes

close to the bone for me. Pausing to give thanks for sacrifices made by

'-man' - 21 y.o. on his overseas deployment. A solid

medic on a mission. Waiting on word on the identity of the injured soldier

as I know everyone on this crew.
