Guest guest
Hi Lana, I thought the pics were so fun to see, so I couldn't resist trying to e-mail them to Turid Rugaas. I had an old e-mail address to her from when I got some help from her years ago. She was so wonderful helping me, especially over the phone when Shanti's anxiety got really bad after I got her. So when I mailed her now, I told her a bit about Shanti, the special relationship we had and the experiences I had with her with the amazing communication etc. (including how she " came to me " when she died, you may remember me telling how I heard and saw her here, then called the vet and they told me she died just then). I told this to her just to make her understand the special relationship the two of us had and that because of that it meant especially much to me that she encouraged me to work with Shanti to make things better for her. So while sending these pics, I also got to thank her so much for all it meant to me to get the help I got from her, I will always be grateful to her for that. Everybody else at the time told me that I wouldn't be able to do anything about her anxiety, and one guy who owned a dog school for 8 years even said " Give her a shot and get a new dog " . But Turid Rugaas was so wonderful and positive and got a woman she had trained to help us personally as a personal dog trainer, so that I got a bit of help getting started and she also made a plan for how we were to work systematically with helping to lower her anxiety level. And it was wonderful and helped Shanti so much, made her function better again and be really happy again. So now I sent the pictures of Peanut to her too, and said that I thought it was so fun to see how this little, well socialized and happy little one uses calming signals so well to tell others what to do. I also said it would be fun if she could use the pics for something. Not long after I sent the mail, I got a wonderful reply from her, that she was so happy to hear about it, " that the little I did made a difference " (I didn't think it was " little " ) and that she thought it was so fun to hear about and see the pictures of Peanut. She said that she knew exactly what I meant when I told about the special relationship Shanti and I had, that she had experienced just the same things with one of her dogs. I think that must be Vesla, one of her rescue dogs who she used a lot as a dog therapist on other dogs who had anxiety, because Vesla had an amazing body language which calmed down even the most scared and aggressive dogs. She passed away a couple of years ago, I think, she was old. It was soooo nice to get that mail from her. She is such a wonderful person. I was so sad when I had to drop going to a weekend seminar with her and the US Pryor who developed the clicker training method. It would have been so great to be at that seminar and seen the two of them in action too. Pryor's books about dog training are just great. The two of them are true dog lovers, and live their life for it. Turid Rugaas has devoted her whole life to working with dogs, doing research on their behavior etc. She is world famous for her knowledge... It is wonderful how such a busy lady who is travelling more than she is at home to spread knowledge about these things, can take time to communicate with people over such things. So many others would never bother to do such things. Well, enough for now... I hope you like the pics in the album!!! Now there's a person who knows how to love a dog - NOT!!! How rude! I suppose they feel like they're 'just' animals. NOT again! They are FAMILY, and love more unconditionally than anyone! * Pryor's books about dog training are just great. The two of them are true dog lovers, and live their life for it. Guest guest
Hi Lana, The pictures are there, but as a file at the top of the page, that is where the albums are. I was looking and looking once before too, and just could not find the pictures somebody had posted. I think that you probably are doing the same thing as I did....
