Guest guest
I have had that electro thingy done, it isn't as bad as you might think, Oh, it's no day at the beach, but I'd rather have that again then the extensive MRI I had to go through. For real! I do hope they find out what is wrong hun...and that it is something curable! Well, I escaped alive... :-D Neuro says my symptoms are confusing, says no tumor, no stroke, he doesn't think MG because "MG doesn't have numbness", says he doesn't think MS because "symptoms don't fit" (!!!!!), says only one small white matter lesion visible in brain MRI... Guest guest
I'm kind of concerned about seeing this Dr again, since he basically told me that no neuro diseases have symptoms that come on and the go away or lessen again - and isn't that the definition of " relapsing/remitting MS " ?!? Guest guest
I was just glad to get out without having to make the " LP or no LP choice... also glad that I got the neuro visit, a metric buttload of bloodwork, xrays, and the cervical MRI all done in one trip, I would truly hate to make a 4 hour round trip for a 15 minute appt! I don't know if I liked him or not - he was kind of " short " , if you know what I mean, but I'm also kind of defensive against strangers to start with, always nervous and don't express myself well. Add in that I'd gotten less than 2 hours of sleep, and we might have been speaking 2 different languages.... Guest guest
I am fairly sure I understood him to say that, yes. Also he didn't seem to think MS would " getcha " mostly on one side, either. At a VA hospital, you pretty much get what they got as far as doctors go; guess I'll reserve judgment (sort of) until this round of tests - at least he believes me to the point of getting a mass quantity of tests, for everything from heavy metal poisoning to lupus to Lyme to MG - and see what else gets crossed off the list. After all, when everything else is eliminated, what are we left with? And of course, like taking your car to the mechanic, I went to the appointment on a pretty great-feeling day! Guest guest
Gee , That Dr. sounds a bit 'quackish'... Everything you have described to us points to MS. I too have what they call, a low 'burden'of lesions. I think I only have 2.The last piece about poking your muscles...is that called 'Evoked Potentials'?I had that test and it isn't too bad. It also helped them with the MS dx. I had somesort of poor result when it came to one of my legs. We're here to support you in this. Please let us know how further tests go, okay?love you, KateTo: "MSersLife " <MSersLife >Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2011 11:16 PMSubject: Re: 1st Neuro visit ever I'm glad you lived to tell the tale! " Re: 1st Neuro visit ever I'm glad you lived to tell the tale! Did you like the neuro? What did you think of his comments? It sounds like a good appointment over all. So MS doesn't " symptoms don't fit " ? Geez, that sounds familiar!! lol hugs Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. So today got blood tests for everything under the sun from lupus to MG (seemed like a hundred tubes), gotta do a 24-hour urine test for heavy metal poisoning, got xrays and an MRI of my cervical spine, and now we see what all that says. Also supposed to be setting up that thingie where they poke your muscles, electrocute them, and see what happens... Sigh.... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
Too bad it wasn't a bad day, huh? lol And, sorry doc, but MS can affect just one side. And then it can change and affect the other side. rofl... hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. RE: 1st Neuro visit ever I'm kind of concerned about seeing this Dr again, since he basically toldme that no neuro diseases have symptoms that come on and the go away orlessen again - and isn't that the definition of "relapsing/remitting MS" ?!?T in WYPractical Blackwork Designshttp://practicalblackwork.comhttp://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..."-----Original Message-----From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On BehalfOf AkibaSent: Wednesday, September 28, 2011 7:21 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: 1st Neuro visit ever I have had that electro thingy done, it isn't as bad as you might think, Oh,it's no day at the beach, but I'd rather have that again then the extensiveMRI I had to go through. Guest guest
Yes, the doctor had them squeeze me in while we were there Wed... was supposed to hear back today, but nobody called. So now I get to spend the weekend wondering if the results were so horrible they don't want to tell me on a Friday, or once again nothing so why bother? Sigh... Guest guest
Glad you have finally seen a neuro! But...strange Dr that one! Uhhmm, yes, MS can affect different sides of the body differently... For it's her left side that's affected the most, on all accounts, more numbness, weakness, etc. Oh, well, maybe after all the tests he will still be able to do something useful for you. Here's hoping it will all work out to the best!love/Reb > > Well, I escaped alive... :-D> Neuro says my symptoms are confusing, says no tumor, no stroke, he> doesn't think MG because "MG doesn't have numbness", says he doesn't think> MS because "symptoms don't fit" (!!!!!), says only one small white matter> lesion visible in brain MRI...> So today got blood tests for everything under the sun from lupus to MG> (seemed like a hundred tubes), gotta do a 24-hour urine test for heavy metal> poisoning, got xrays and an MRI of my cervical spine, and now we see what> all that says. Guest guest
If it was a bad day, nobody could have gotten me in the car for a 2-hour drive. You know the silliest thing of the day? I couldn't get it into my head which floor of the hospital I was on. If my friend hadn't been with me, and if I hadn't been wheelchaired to various places I needed to go (I think they were tired of waiting on me!) I'd still be there, roaming the halls, looking for the exit... :-D in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
I hope so - but I'm worried about a Dr who crosses everything off the list before we even start... And he's the only neurologist available there. If I don't want to see him, not sure I have any options except crawling back into the hermit cave... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
