Guest guest
Oh Cindy, my heart goes out to you. We lost one of our cats just less then a month ago and it was terrible. Spend as much time with her as possible and let her know that she is loved and not alone. Jill
Guest guest
Oohhh Cindy, dear! I'm so so sorry to hear of your poor little kitty's condition. How heartbreaking for you. Losing a special companion is just so painful. I wish I could give you some real (((HUGS))) through this rough time. I'm sorry to hear that you have to face two more surgeries. I sure hope both go extremely well. It seems like TKRs really do wonders for so many people, and there's been some good stuff on the board about thumb fusions, if that's any consolation. Extra big (((HUGS))) You and your beloved kitty are in our thoughts and hearts. -Rhea

Guest guest
Cindy, I'm so, so sorry for your kitty! Our pets are our family! I will keep her and you in my prayers for sure! I know how it goes with the PT and having to watch your sessions. It's the pits! Keep me informed, OK? Love Lana 0:-) My kitty won't be living long and two up coming surgeries. Such a week --then yesterday afternoon I took my precious 15 y/o kitty who's always been so active, healthy and young acting, to the vet. The 2nd time in a week. he said, " maybe " arthritis " --but he didn't think the symptoms of weight loss, and the symptoms moving joint to joint would really point to that, blood work was good and she responded well to the short acting cortisone..A week later, over night she developed a huge bump on her knee--but didn't seem to have problems using it. When he checked the cells from it, he found cancer of the connective tissue. ( ithink he said a sarcoblastoma...isn't that the one that goes fast? Poor baby has lost over 2 pounds in less than a month, and despite eating better for a week, she lost weight. She sleeps so much, and even looks like she's suffering. Often she lashes her tail side to side.... I asked that she be kept comfortable so he gave he a longer acting cortisone. I feel so bad...she's been my sweetie for sooo long now. I'm gonna miss her. Besides this, I learned I'll need aTKR for sure on Wed. yesterday, I then learned an MCP fusion is needed on my thumb --the one that just had the basilar surgery in March. The thumb fusion is Aug 10. Hopefully the knee surgeon won't mind waiting until Nov. to do the TKR I'd rather do the knee now, and the thumb later...but both physically and financially it should work out better this way. Either way if both surgeries are done this year, they will be covered at 100%. The difficulty is I'll run short of PT sessions this calendar year. We only have 40/year. And I 've been treated for 5 different things so far and I'm running out of session. I have 7 left...just enough for the thumb (I counted the ones I used for the last fusion.) I keep thinking of my kitty. I'll be so lonesome without her. :( Love, CindyH Wisc.
Guest guest
Dear Rhea, Thanks so much for your thoughts. And thank you for the cyber-hug. I need a bunch of those right now. This week was one I'd not want to repeat. It's been something else. I don't want to deal with my thumb or knee much longer ....but one has to wait. Love, CindyH Wisc. Guest guest
Dear Jill, It sure will leave an empty spot in my heart, and around here. She's been of so much comfort during all the surgeries, and when I'm in pain. I pray I have enough insight to know when she's no longer fairly comfortable. She's been sleeping so much of the time the past week. Hopefully she goes in her sleep. Love, CindyH Wisc.
Guest guest
Lana, Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. I'm going to miss Amber so much, but as she got older, I knew it could happen most anytime...just think it would be now. I'll keep you posted. Love, CindyH Wisc. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, It is 5 a.m. here and I really need to go to bed, but I just had to tell you that I am so sorry to hear about your kitty's illness... How horrible... It is always awful losing a family member, and that is what she is... I hope that the vet can make her comfortable for a while, so you get a bit of time together adjusting to what is happening and getting a nice time together, live what is left of her precious life together with you to the fullest, so that you at least have that to look back to with fond memories after she is gone... Now is the time for all the yummies kitty treats in the world and lots of cuddling and sweet talk... Creating the best ending to a wonderful time together and say all your thanks for the love you have shared over 15 years. She will always have a very special place in your heart after she leaves this world... After all, she is a lucky kitty-girl, has had a loving mom for a long kitty life... But, that does not make the pain any less when such a thing happens. It is always tough to lose a loved one, that is for sure... Sending you lots of cyber-hugs... And of course, good luck on your upcoming surgeries... I hope you can manage the challenges re. PT after surgery somehow. Isn't there a way to work it out, e.g. getting them to give you some of next years " quota " this year, since you have a special situation coming up with two surgeries that close together? Something like that? I really hope that... PT is sure expensive if you have to pay out of your own pocket... hugs, Aase Marit >Such a week --then yesterday afternoon I took my precious 15 y/o >kitty who's always been so active, healthy and young acting, to the >vet. Guest guest
Cindy, this is just too hard and too sad! I'm so sorry your kitty is leaving - sorry for you, because we both know she will be in a better place - but for you, it will be sad and lonely, especially when you're huring so badly physically! It's not fair! Can I do anything to lessen your pain besides praying for you and praying your kitty goes comfortably? I would gladly do it, my friend! Guest guest
Aase Marit, Your kind words are really appreciated so much, and also the time you took to write when it was so very early in the morning. I know how valuable our sleep is to us. And I sure have needed the hugs~~ My Sweetie definitely is a family member. It was so hard telling our adult children what's going on. They chose her, and named her Amber....but she's a grey tiger and tortoise shell. I call her my " Sweetie " tho' Today she had a spurt of energy so it was like having her back a little bit like her self for a while. It must be the cortisone kicking in a little more now and helping to keep her feeling better, but she's weak and tires so easily. I took some cute pictures of her today, too. Usually she doesn't cooperate very well, but today she did. So special treats, and tuna were on the menu. I've been so lucky to have her for this long, and somehow knowing just what joints need to be warmed and comforted:) Plus lots of laughs over her antics. I'm hoping something can be worked out with the therapy sessions. And I need to make sure I can get the knee in this calendar year...it's far more expensive than the thumb fusion. So I have a bit of thinking ahead this week figuring out the best way to do it. Thanks so much for writing..... Love and hugs, Cindy ~~~ From: Aase Marit Waage
Guest guest
Dear Patti, How I appreciate your kind thoughts. She's been such a part of my life for so long now. I'm sure you know how it is, since you have two. They seem to get right into our " hearts " , and will purr softly when we need comforting. She's lived her 9 lives that's for sure. One Labor Day holiday- when she was 3, a neighbor shot her in the neck with a BB gun while she sat in our tree! It was a really close call, missed by a millimeter going between the vertebrae and into her spinal column. When she was 5--on Labor Day again- she ran out of the house. As I called to her, I heard a yelp like some one had picked her up against her will. We didn't see her again for two weeks when she came up to the patio door one night! I still have my suspicions it was the same neighbor that shot her...but no proof.. I forgave him long ago. And ours wasn't the only cat that these things happen to them. But this man ended up suffering more in this life than I would have wished on anyone. He had uncontrollable pain for a very long time. {Oops......Guess I got to thinking back in time a bit...} Thanks again for writing...it helps. Love, CindyH Wisc. Guest guest
Oh Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear your kitty is not doing well. I did not get the original message. Oh gees my heart goes out to you! Our kitties are so special and so dearly loved, like children. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you my friend! Been there done that, you sent me such a lovely note when my Scooter died in Jan of this year. I saved it and all the others. Please write me and tell me how the kitty is doing and about your upcoming surgeries. I've been out of touch for awhile, Sorry! Love, S.
