Guest guest
Or EKG's, etc. That would be a tremendous mistake on the part of any EMS provider because the ZPIC's, RAC's and feds all actively mine data from the National Claims History database in D.C. They already know the frequency of ALS procedures in the field. Thus, any increase in the use of same would put a provider on their radar and expose them to audits, prepayment review and other (not so desirable) sanctions. Also, now I have it on good authority that the FBI has visited some of the departments who use Southwest General seeking information about billing. The FBI does not investigate civil matters normally. This could become very interesting. Guest guest
Marilyn, Maybe once the facts are out you can say some of those things but broadcast statements like " And if it is happening to one it is happening to all of their clients! " is a pretty strong assumption since ultimately what gets billed for what is the responsibility of the service provider. Now if you were to have any knowledge of this to be true I would suggest taking that to the feds. Also the statement " I do believe the billing company should be held responsible! Not the service. " is an opinion that you are 100% entitled to both have and express I tend to think that more often than not you will find a certain level of collusion and that may or may not rise to the level of criminal wrong doing on both sides. If that is the case (and considering the FBI is in the mix it sounds as if the feds at least think it is) then that needs to be elevated to the criminal courts. Louis N. Regardless of the final outcome of all of this, the actions of a few will impact the lives of many, and they will be forever changed. Greed and corruption have no place in medicine or public service. Attorney may not think the evidence is sufficient to obtain a conviction and decline prosecution. 3. All are innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. But also remember this: The burden of proof in a civil case is only to the extent of a preponderance of the evidence ((50.00001 %), not beyond a reasonable doubt as in a criminal case. It may be many months or years before this all plays out. Gene G. Re: Breaking News: Dallas Fire Rescue Medicare Fraud case Marilyn, Maybe once the facts are out you can say some of those things but broadcast statements like " And if it is happening to one it is happening to all of their clients! Louis N. Guest guest
Let's remember some basics: 1. Because a suit is filed, it doesn't mean the plaintiffs can prove their case. That remains to be seen. 2. Just because the FBI may be investigating does not mean that charges will be filed. Some investigations do not uncover chargeable crimes, or the U. S. Attorney may not think the evidence is sufficient to obtain a conviction and decline prosecution. 3. All are innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
