Guest guest
Yesterday, November 16, 2010, State Representative Leo Berman (R-Tyler) http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/member-page/?district=6 filed House Bill 299 http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/82R/billtext/pdf/HB00299I.pdf#navpanes=0 that would repeal the Driver Responsibility Program. While the Texas Legislature does not convene until January 11, 2011, bills began to be pre-filed last week. TETAF has been monitoring the bill filings and will provide its first Legislative Watch List at the November 21, 2010, TETAF General Meeting. The list will also be posted to the TETAF website and updated as needed. House Bill 299 will obviously be a bill to watch. While it is a LONG time until May 30, 2010, the last day of the Regular Session, it is anybody's guess how things will play out between now and then. However, TETAF fully anticipated that a bill to repeal the Driver Responsibility Program would be filed and now the onus is on the trauma and emergency health care community and other allies to demonstrate why the program is vital to the continuation of the Texas Trauma System as we know it. Stay tuned. There will obviously be a lot more information shared over the next 194 days. Regards, Dinah DINAH S.
