Surfers...

I keep forgetting to tell this story...and given others folks'

impressions of the JRI neighborhood, it seems only fair to share it.

When I went down last week for my consultation w/Dr. Amstutz, I

stayed at the Holiday Inn across from Staples. The cab at the stand

when I left the hotel for JRI was " independent " . The Hispanic

cabby's name was Wilber (cq).

The sign on the cab said " Driver carries no more than $5.00 in

change. " I got in, and gave him the street address...and he

said " Oh, you're going to the clinic " . I only had a couple of $20's.

Wilber said...that was okay, I could get change in the shop at LAOH.

The fare was $5.40. We got there...and, and I got out, I told him to

wait...I'd get chanage and be back. He said " No need " . He gave me a

business card with his name and number on it...and said to call when

I was ready to go back to the hotel. Said I could pay him then. How

cool is that! If anybody else is going down, and needs a cab ride to

JRI, I'll pass along Wilber's number. Anybody that trusting deserves

some extra business...No????
