I didn't see this email from you yesterday Reb. How has the second day been? How is doing? I hope the 4 hour trip didn't tire her too much! What did you have for dinner last night? What is planned for tonight?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws or defects. To: MSersLife Sent: Mon, July 4, 2011 12:56:24 PMSubject: First evening on my own

started her new job today, left at 05:00 (am), and made it almost in time for work (in other words, I was a bit misinformed when I answered Sharon about the travel time earlier, it's more like 4 hours each way). Luckily they have flextime, so a quarter of an hour late doesn't matter much. So, this is the first day of this (temporary) new life for us. It's working out quite OK so far, I'd say (not that it's even been 24h yet..). But we'd of course much rather be in the same place/city all week. The hotel room she is staying at is a two storey suite (plus side with that: She does prefer to

sleep on the second floor of any place, there she can. minus side: she isn't too happy about the stairs, hard to walk apparently). And the location of the hotel is nice, its just by the waterside, she'll see the ferries and boats pass by.I have been working quite much today, so I haven't had much time to notice the empty house (or ehh, empty, no house with two cats in it is ever empty...)... Do look forward to when she is back though...Well...I guess I just wanted to say: Wish us luck in this!love/Reb

Thanks for asking! It's been ok. I've been reorganizing our home library, trying to put some order in the chaos... We had a lot of books (over a hundred) that didn't have any room on the shelves, and no other place to go... With some clearing out (especially old magazines) and some "moving A to C so that D can go where B was before putting B in A's place"-kind of solutions... I have at least made room for a little more than half of them. We still need a new bookcase or two, but now it's more of needing it some time soon, rather than needed it yesterday at the latest... I've always found sorting and organizing kind of therapeutic, actually. Only wish the weather would have been more cooperative, with indoor temps over 86 F the climbing up and down with heavy piles of books does get a bit exhausting...For dinner I am keeping it as simple as possible, I've had some fried up falukorv ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falukorv ) and macaronis. Both days. I am thinking I'll have some leftovers from the freezer tonight. is doing OK. Working a lot, of course. But she says she doesn't mind when the alternatives are sitting around in her hotel suite or spending time in a city she doesn't like too much. The trip is not very tiring in itself, even if it takes 4 hours. She goes by train (her MS has affected her driving, so she doesn't feel safe driving anymore), and she can spend most of it napping, or reading, or whatever. Since she is bringing her laptop along, she could even access the company network, and get some work started on her way there, if she'd need/want to. Not that she'll do more of that than necessary, she'll be working enough when she arrives. And she had to get up somewhere between 3.30 and 4.00 am this Monday, to be in place around 9-ish, so being able to nap on the way was most appreciated... She could avoid those very early Monday mornings, of course, if she was to travel up there on Sunday evenings instead, but she doesn't really see that as an alternative. We did a bit of a long-distance TV evening yesterday, watching an episode of Midsomer Murders while talking on the phone.love/Reb> > What did you have for dinner last night? No, there is no elevator or lift. But, then, her problem with the stairs is not really in walking/balance (in that case she could have asked them for another room/suite, I suppose), but is more about her being scared of heights, and not liking very steep stairs (as this one is) for that reason...love/Reb>> Jeepers, Reb! 4 hours EACH way? Thank you for asking, Kate! Being curious is not bad ;-)She'll be there four days a week (but she is thinking of alternating which four days a bit, she can make her own schedule to some extent), and not be commuting back and forth each day. That's why she is staying in a hotel (she could have rent an apartment or room somewhere too, but this was just the easiest solution). It's right that food preparation/cooking has been one of my duties since got ill (=too fatigued, especially) with her MS, but that means I am actually doing less of it the days I'm on my own, since I am only cooking for one, and (more especially) could "cheat" my way out of cooking altogether more or less, and just cook some pasta (spaghetti with grated cheese, black pepper and some ketchup like sauce isn't half bad...), or have sandwiches, or just take something from the freezer. Or cook one big batch of something on the first day, and then micro portions of it for all the rest of the week (that's what I am planning on as more of a long term solution, but this week it has been way too hot to even think about doing any serious cooking).love/Reb>> I'm confused, Reb. /RebI know what you're talking about. had to take over almost all of the cooking because of my MS (and his fear that I'll end up burning myself severely). I still mix up the dressings for things like macaroni/potato salad. I make the stuffing for the turkey and the glaze for the ham on the holidays. He does all the heavy stuff and foot work. In other words I sit at the table and do what I can, he does everything else. But what I really wanted to comment about, was how he did things BM (before me) when he was working long long hours, and didn't have much "spare time".. On his day(s) off, he would cook up a big batch of whatever he was making, then portion it out, and then freeze it (still does when we make a big batch of something or other).. after a couple of weeks, he had several different meals to choose from during the week, when he didn't have time to cook. My mother did the same thing, but on holidays after a huge meal. She saved TV Dinner (compartmentalized) trays, and would create her own brand of TV dinners. They were the old foil trays, and she's wrap those in aluminum foil, using a marker to write on the foil what was inside. Worked out great for us kids/tweens.. Couldn't nuke them back then, but it wasn't a real pain to wait for the conventional oven to work it's magic. It was like Thanksgiving or Christmas all over again!..Might not be such a horrendous idea, that when is home for the 3 days, and you are cooking for the two of you, make a bit extra and toss it in the freezer for the coming week(s) eventually, you'd have a wide variety of 'heat-n-eat" meals at hand for when you're soloing during the week. That's just my two cents though. HUGS|)onnaTo: MSersLife Sent: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 10:57:37 AMSubject: Re: First evening on my own
