...Jackie I take 2500 UI's of D3, 2000 mgs Fish Oil, 400 E, calcium and Vit K ... just a drop a day. It helps your body absorb the D and calcium supposedly.

Just a thought but do you smoke? That raises copper levels. And big congrats about not having to worry about Celiacs :) ... hugs, Cait

My test results

Hi, I had some blood work done last week to test for Celiac disease, and thankfully it came back negative. But my copper levels were way high. My Dr. is doing some research on why that may be. I have had slight elevations in my liver enzymes for years, but this is the first time that my copper was tested and came back high. Anyone knows what this might mean?

Well I don’t know how I will manage this if I have to go on a low copper diet. The foods below make up most of my foods. I have to keep the diabetes in check and the low copper foods are bad for that. And Sharon YES chocolate is a no no. LThis is what I found for a low copper diet:· Choose breads, rolls, cereals and pastas made from refined flour, and white rice. Avoid wheat germ, bran cereals, and bran breads.· Eat vegetables, but avoid vegetable juice cocktails (such as V-8 juice), mushrooms, and potatoes with skin. Canned sweet potatoes are okay, but avoid fresh sweet potatoes.· Avoid beans (including peas, lentils, and lima, garbanzo, pinto, red, black, and soy beans).· Don’t eat tofu.· Don’t eat commercially dried fruit, fruit leathers, raisins, or prunes.· Avoid avocados. Limit mangos, papayas, pineapple, kiwi, and pears.· Avoid foods that contain chocolate, or cocoa.· Do not eat nuts, peanut butter or other nut butters.· Avoid any soy or chocolate drinks, instant breakfast drinks, or meal replacement drinks or bars.· You may drink milk and eat dairy products that don’t contain soy or chocolate. Choose milk, yogurt, cheese (including cream cheese and cottage cheese), custard, eggs, or coconut milk.· Eat small portions of animal protein. Avoid pork, lamb, dark-meat turkey or chicken, and organ meats. Avoid shellfish.· Limit your intake of licorice to 1 ounce or less per day.· Avoid alcohol—it can be harmful to your liver. What a nightmare this will be. I don’t know if the medicine they give you will allow you to eat the above in limited amounts, or you still will have to avoid these foods. My biggest challenge will be to give up the chocolate since I found some great tasting sugar free candies and ice cream that satisfies my sweet tooth.  This sucks!!! I know that plasma is the blood, but is serum the urine? Or is it another blood test? A little confusing. I haven’t heard back from my Dr., so I am assuming she doesn’t think there is any urgency. She mails my test results so she may write what the next step will be. I was looking at all the foods that have copper in them, and the most troubling one for me is CHOCOLATE!! ACK!!! How will I ever give up my beloved chocolate? L Oh yeah, my Vit. D was still too low. I take 1000 UI a day, and the nurse talked about a sublingual D to take instead. It’s come up from the last readings, so maybe I can just double the 1000 instead. Don’t know where to get sublingual D, unless she writes a ‘script for it? Sharon, it WAS great news about the Celiac being negative because my Aunt tested positive for it, and my son has gone gluten free and says he feels much better. Now all I have to do is get to the DENTIST as my crown has come loose and causing me grief. Pain, more pain when I eat!
