Guest guest
Just as a first thought, the assessment is nowhere near complete enough to even contemplate a refusal. -Wes Ogilvie, MPA, JD, NREMT-P/Lic.P. -Licensed Paramedic/Attorney at Law/EMS Instructor -Austin, Texas Hello everyone, Have you ever had this call before? There are 5 ambulances in your city, and it just so happens at this particular time and moment, you are the only ambulance in the city, and your goin to the jail. OMG, not the jail again! PD reports that 40 y/o male is complaining of having a panic attack. EMS arrives on scene, checks the patient, and vitals are 126/70 pulse rate 64, resp. 18., skin normal Now what? A - let the officer know that he can go by police car to the county jail? B - package him up and take him to the hospital? C - sign a refusal D - " the answer you come up with " What is the most correct way of handling this? By the way, I am not familiar with Texas Law. I understand that law enforcement is responsible for the prisoner's health and welfare. Can PD sign a prisoner's AMA? Where is the shift in libility lie? Can't wait to see your answers..... Have fun.... Jeff We all know that " The law enforcement is responsible for the prisoner's health and welfare... "
