Hi

I'm a Canadian woman from Vancouver who had a BHR done in

Birmingham, England, last fall. I'm going to Australia for three weeks

in August, and would be glad to meet and talk to prospective hippies

or post-resurf hippies who have questions, want to see how much

improvement they can expect, etc. I will be 10 months post-op by then.

It seems there have been several inquiries from Perth lately, so I'd

be happy to share whatever I've learned.

I'll be in Perth by myself attending a conference from August

2-12, then meeting up with my boyfriend to travel the east coast and

visit friends and relatives, from Townsville and Cairns south to

Sydney, leaving for home on Aug. 25th. If anyone has any good ideas

for cheap places to stay in Perth (Aug.2-11), or Sydney (Aug. 23-24),

or is planning to visit Canada and would like to swap hospitality, I'd

also appreciate hearing those suggestions.

You can email me directly at mledirect@....

I saw my physiotherapist this week for the first time in

almost a month, and he says my range of motion just gets better all

the time. It's still not perfect, but I'm over 8 months post-op, and I

can now walk up hills and go sightseeing on foot all day, with only a

bit of soreness or stiffness afterwards (so long as I remember to

stretch after all that exertion), and I'm not a very athletic person.

Re the questions on sleeping on the back or side, I found it was

impossible (due to pain) to sleep on either side for about two months

post-op. At first I was too weak to roll over accidentally, and later,

the pain woke me up! I coped with back-sleeping by putting a pillow

under my " good " knee and taking a muscle relaxant at bed-time, or a

sleeping pill a couple of times a week when I was really exhausted. I

did find that wearing the long TED stocking day and night for the

first six weeks actually helped reduce the pain, but the stockings

drive other people crazy and they prefer to take them off at night.
