Guest guest
Happy birthday to all the birthday folks I've missed, and prayers for quick healing to those who need it - I'm afraid I'm never gonna catch up on my back reading... :-( So the story of my visits to the iffy neurologist. 1 office visit, at which he told me he didn't think I had anything neurological before even examining me, and the other things I quoted before. Apparently I have one lesion on my brain MRI, which he is discounted as " nothing really " . Cervical spine MRI looks clear (no contrast on that one.) Blood work for a number of things like lupus, MG, etc, normal. Test for heavy metal poisoning (!!!!) normal. Yesterday was a nerve conduction/EMG test on my right arm and leg (the worst side) which he said was normal. And so he has decided that (despite symptoms) I have no neuro problems, and has sent me on down the road, suggesting that next I should be tortured by a rheumatologist.... I think he's dead wrong, but since he's the only neuro available without traveling out of state, I guess I'm going to have to make the rounds and work my way back to neurology. (Or possibly have such a flare that the dx is dead obvious...) Meanwhile, Himself's mother had spinal surgery again last week, and again they have almost managed to kill her (she gets bleeding problems and blood-sugar problems with her diabetes EVERY TIME, and very little improvement from the surgeries) again - she had Himself's dad are stuck down in Casper because they are afraid to move her, the hospital has discharged her, and their insurance is so far refusing to approve a rehab hospital or anything else, Himself's brother in law is due to have 4 vertebrae fused in his neck day after tomorrow, his SISTER is supposed to have some surgery I can't recall, and Himself is ignoring his own medical appts to stress out over all this other stuff... First cold weather and a little snow is hitting, and sure not looking forward to the time change this weekend - I think that has outlasted any usefulness it ever had! Guest guest
I have been worried about you ! I'm so glad to see your post. I'm sorry you have such a dunce for a neuro:) It's very, very common for possible MSers to be told there is nothing wrong with them. I read somewhere once that it is actually a practice by docs. Somehow they have the idea that by telling us there is nothing wrong we will go happily along with no further problems. roflDo you have your heavy winter curtains up?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
I was kind of stuck in that " waiting " thing again... :-P I'm glad to see (saw the MRIs) that I don't have a brain tumor, strokes, pinched nerves, etc etc etc. NOT so happy to have all the neuro symptoms dismissed, especially when there is not another neuro to see unless I have the time, money, and a ride to travel 5+ hours one way! Guess I'm going to have to make the rounds of rheumatology, endocrinology, etc (not a bad idea anyway, since I have EDS and every symptom of thyroid problems EXCEPT that damned TSH number...) and hope by the time I get back around to neuro there's another Dr there... And Himself- who is over right now seeing to his folks' house in prep for below freezing temps - is climbing the stairs today to fetch down the Winter Curtain Tub for me, sigh. AIn't ready! Hope your storm isn't too horribly bad! Guest guest
Thanks, nne, always grateful for prayers! Not really too surprised about the neuro; timing worked out so that I've seen him when I am, all things considered, feeling pretty good and relatively non-gimpy. I was just really really hoping that SOMETHING would show up that couldn't be ignored, so I wouldn't have to make any more of those drives, ya know? We are very worried for Himself's parents; last night they managed to get his mother into a convalescent home, though the last we knew it was not a very nice one, until she is ready to travel. Needless to say, his father is beside himself; they have been married for 60 years. Looks very much like they may be moving to assisted living, if their place can be sold and they can afford it. If they will take advantage, it may be the best thing for them - lots of opportunities for socializing, activities, etc available there... But losing all the effects of low thyroid would be WONDERFUL... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... " Behind again! Guest guest
I want to talk to my NP about that very thing - I use iodized salt and eat plenty of dairy, but NO seafood. But I don't want to start anything that might mess up or mask test results before I see where we're going - we'd been holding off on endocrinology work in favor of " what the hell is wrong with my wiring " ...
