Real EMS Dino's rode Caddy's and Pontiacs. I never ran a 9-1-1 job in a

true Caddy but one of my early VFD Squads had a Pontiac " hearse style " nice

ride (not near as nice as a Caddy mind you) but man was Patient care a BITCH

and I think I still have crinks in my back from a few of the Codes we ran.

RE: Low top suburbans. Try going over railroad tracks while doing compressions

with a driver who thought he was Burt Reynolds. I was 18 and walked like I was

eh...the big problem with the full ring splint was how to maintain traction

while slipping the ring up the leg....

never had to use it on a (real) patient, but one of the old orthopods

insisted we learn to use it 'just in case we ran out of anything else....'

Unfortunately, the little town in East Texas where I started at didn't

have any ambulance service until they got their first Suburban ambulance

(used). Before that they called the funeral home or the police who threw

them in the back and treated with high-flow petro all the way to the ER.

Same here but it was a part of my ARC AFA Class which was a part of what

the NJ First Aid Council called the " 5-Point Program " .

A year later I took EMT-A and we had to do both for the test as the Hare

was not really a statewide device, when I recerted a few years later we also

had to do the KED and Short Board as it to was a " new " thing.

Played with yes certified on yes applied to an actual Patient never only

the Hare and the Sager in those cases.
