Guest guest
Doc, I can say I used one on a patient once. It took about 20 minutes to place on the patient and the windless had be tighten several times. For the amount of time spent, in hind sight it would have been better to have used board splints and rapid transport. Oh well we live and learn. As Wes said in 20 or 30 years someone on this list will make fun of the technology of today. BTW I have only used a traction splint of any brand or style 5 times in my over 30 years of EMS. I suspect that these devices may have seen there day and time. Guest guest
I once had a guy claim to have put on a traction splint over 30 times on his 20 years in EMS. I figure his service had the highest per capita single point femur fracture rate on the planet or he's an idiot that puts them on everything. Guest guest
I used a half-ring only once, and that was in 1970. I seem to recall that the pavement was hot; unpacking and configuring all of the cravats took an eternity; the LEO's were constantly yelling at us to hurry up; and, the transport time to Arlington Memorial was about 3 minutes. At least I can say that I did it once - as primitive as it was at the time.
