Guest guest
You know what? Good for them, for being able to laugh at themselves, and make light of a bad public image. I'm not sure I'd be as happy participating in a video where I bumbled around, knew nothing about my patient, and wore a short labeling me " ambulance driver " . But darn do I give that cop and that department respect for realizing that they are not too high on their pedestals to acknowledge a negative stereotype... Guest guest
Well, they need to get over themselves! It's satire. It's not REAL FUNNY, but it's mildly funny. And it doesn't denigrate cops at all. So the PBA should back off and think about the real message it conveys. Guest guest
It's a different thing, Louis. The J&J thing sought to portray nurses as primary EMS providers. It wasn't a satirical thing at all. It was portrayed as truth. The cop/donut thing is entirely different. First, it was made by a cop, if I understand correctly, and the message is that if you don't drink and drive, the cops won't be forced to deal with you. The donut eating and other stuff was just fluff. There was nothing in the J&J commercial like that. The J&J commercial was dead serious. The cop/donut/DWI thing was not. Sorry to disagree but mark me: DISAGREED! Guest guest
I get your point and might even agree with it but from the view of how the " profession " is shiwn it is the same. So what if you found out the folks that made the J & J stuff were Medics that would be OK? Look at other " professions " that don't like satire and are vocal about it such as firfughyers not licking say Jim Carey's Fire Marshall Bill chaecterI. Note I'm using " profession " in soured very specifically as there are many on this board that would jump at calling EMS a " profession " but in the same breath would argue that cops and fire weren't such, it's been said and done here several times as well as rlseswhere. Even so far as to poke si called good natured fun at both. I submit you're view and mine isn't relevant as neither of us is a cop in this case. Maybe the lesson us an eye of the beholder one? Of course everyone picks on someone and as a JD you know that well as you're the but of a lot of crap as I am as a Yankee in the South (yes, Texas is in the South) you and I take it well overall and give as well as we take but if another in our shoes is offend is he too wrong?
