Guest guest
The Dallas Morning News is now reporting on its website that Dallas Fire Rescue and the City of Dallas, and their Medicare billing company have been sued by a former city employee in a qui tam suit over millions of dollars in alleged Medicare fraud payments. According to the story, it is alleged that over a long period of time Dallas billed ALL ambulance calls as ALS calls whether or not the patient's condition warranted it. According to the paper, this suit was filed earlier this year and just unsealed. The suit asks for $42 million dollars in damages. (A qui tam suit is one brought by an individual who is a whistle-blower on behalf of the federal government. The whistle-blower can receive a hefty percentage of any damages awarded.) Check the Dallas Morning News' website for the story. Gene Gandy
