Guest guest
Texas Department of State Health Services Legislative Appropriations Request for 2012-13 Submitted DSHS's legislative appropriations request (LAR) totaling $5.95 billion for the 2012-13 biennium has been submitted to the Legislative Budget Board. (View LAR http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/budget/lar/default.shtm> ..) The LBB and the Governor's Office will hold a joint hearing on the DSHS LAR Monday, September 13, 2010, 1- 5 p.m., in the Capitol. DSHS was required to also submit a list of options for reducing the general revenue/non-entitlement portion of its LAR by 10 percent, or $238.4 million. (View options http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/budget/lar/6I.pdf> .) And the agency submitted $200 million in " exceptional items " requests for additional funding to maintain current service levels, comply with federal and state laws and help move health forward in Texas. (View exceptional items http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/budget/lar/2E.pdf> .) Click to view http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/council/agendas/Aug2010/2012-13-LAR-82510.p pt> a presentation summarizing the LAR, proposed budget reduction options and exceptional items. http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/budget/lar/default.shtm DSHS is requesting a total appropriation of $70,000,808 for the Designated Trauma Facility and EMS Account 5111 each year of the 2012-13 biennium, a.k.a. as HB 3588 monies. This represents an initial reduction of $5 million per year over what was originally appropriated for the 2010-11 biennium. While the State of Texas budget faces some real challenges, some $360 million sits in the account 5111 unappropriated, which is supposed to be dedicated to designated trauma facilities, EMS and RACs. TETAF will attend and present testimony at the hearing on Monday, September 13th. Others wishing to do so are encouraged to attend. Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact me. DINAH S.
