Guest guest
Hi, You may get more response trying both the Corin and BHR manufacturers via web addresses........ They will readily supply surgeons names............. It is readily being done across the waters in Sydney............. Mine appeared to cost in region of $25,000 but I spent some extra time in rehab.......... The surgeons costs were approx $5000, prothesis $10,000 and hospital $500 a day........there are a few extras like physio at the hospital etc........... this was almost 2 year ago......... You can probably get a quote straight off a web page for a Sydney clinic..........just type in Resurface/Australia. If you have any sort of problems that may bring complications or want the best on offer, my OS is to be highly recommended......... he will tackle things others only dream of.......... Guest guest
Dear NZ, I tried at Totorua, without success. Through the Arthritis Society, I was recommended a surgeon in AK and when spoke to him he was not too much in favour (I took it that he did not have experience and wanted to 'sell' what he had. I then realised that the limited number doing 'some sort of re-surfacing' was too few and therefore skills would not be good. I spoke with a (wife's) friend - a surgeon in HK and he recommended Australia, Europe or US - although US very expensive. He even admitted that HK was limited in experience as there is less of it there. From what I picked up from newspaper reports the cost here is $15,000 - poss. at least. I will go to Belgium for it. It seems only slightly more expensive there; however the travel is also a concern - you see I originally come from up there and was planning a trip anyway. Guest guest
I would definitely choose a doctor who has done many successful resurfacings. Australia isn't that far away! Jude Any Surgeons in New Zealand? Any Surgeons you can recommend in New Zealand that do resurfacing ....my surgeon tried to steer me away from it but would do it. I guess I want someone who has done a few in this part of the world else what am I up for to have it done in Europe or Australia? Thanks Rick
