Guest guest
Dear Well-at long last someone else who has ended up with a significantly longer resurfaced leg. That has happened to me as well, and I was 'done' on Nov. 27/03. Of course, it is not supposed to happen at all, but mine is about 1/2 " longer. Now-what I have found out so far is that over time, your hip is supposed to 'bed in' and as you were only operated on in April, it sounds like perhaps this just hasn't had time to happen yet. My OS says he can see no physical reason for my longer leg length when he looks at my hip x-ray. Unlike you, I am still, at 7 months, getting quite a bit of pain (like Surita and Lari and others). His hypothesis is that my leg is longer because I have not been able to put my full weight on it because of the pain. However, pain or no, I do think I put my full weight on it. I do hike, etc. But who knows? I finally got an appointment (on the NHS) with Orthotics about 3 weeks ago and now have a proper heel raise. This has made a big difference to me, and I think is better for my back as I am now able to walk without a limp most of the time. Limping was not good for the back! But it has limited the shoes I can wear. Anyway-I am having an aspiration arthrogram next Monday to see if there is a low level infection that is causing the continuing pain. Will let everyone know-about a week to get the results. Eleanor dagnabbit.... Hi Guys, Well it looks like my resurfed leg is a full 3/8 " longer than my non op side. I guess I'm gonna need orthotics. And you know what, I'll be happy to get them! My leg feels great, and I'm now at about the same activity level as I was pre-op, even more so in the gym. Anyway, The leg length issue is a small bummer, but easily fixed. Although, now that I think about it, I wear sandals and go barefoot a lot, so I'm not sure how that will affect my back etc. Any of you old timers have leg length descrepancy?
