Guest guest
Hi everyone I am returning to work tomorrow, and would like to thank everyone here for their wonderful advice, support, friendship, humour and inspiration over the 12 weeks since my operation. This group has been a huge support network for me and I have enjoyed reading all the terrific messages. My journey towards this operation began with incredible pain 4 years ago after an injury on a school camp and after much soul searching and rapidly diminishing ability to lead a " normal " life, I made the huge decision to have a BHR. My surgeon and surgical team were absolutely superb and with the confidence they instilled in me, and with my pre op research which wasnt vast, just the basics, I underwent surgery late in April. In many ways, I really had little idea of what to expect but knew I would be well looked after in hospital. I chose to stay a week in hospital, knowing that I would be pertty well on my own when I came home. Getting wireless networking setup on my laptop was sensational and gave me freedom to keep in touch with the world, in particuar, this support group. Tomorrow I return to full time Primary school teaching so will be on my feet all day every day. In many ways I am looking forward to it, especially to working with my delightful 10 year old students again, and I finally feel physically ready to return to work. It is 11 weeks since my op so let's hope I can manage both physically and mentally. Mine is a very senior position so there will be no let up even for lunch breaks. Hmmmm. I will probably not have the time to read and respond to messages but wish everyone all the best, in their decision making, for the operation, and in their recovery. Once again, this is a terrific group and hopefully I can check in every so often. My regular email address is kwbishop@... and I'd be more than happy to respond to emails, esp for people in Australia seeking information.
