WICHITA FALLS —One person is dead and four injured in a collision involving an

ambulance at the intersection of 11th Street and Holliday in Wichita Falls.

The collision between an automobile and the ambulance from Archer County shortly

after noon knocked the ambulance on its side. Wichita County Sheriff Duke

was on the scene and confirmed a patient in the ambulance was dead. The person

has been identified as Roy Lee Pope, 58, of Archer City. Pope was being rushed

to United Regional Hospital after being attacked by bees in Archer City. He was

found at the rear of a bank there. It has not been determined whether he died as

a result of the bee attack or injuries in the accident.

Two attendants in the ambulance and a woman driving the automobile were hurt,

but their injuries were not considered life threatening.
